Melissa Caparitia, LMHC, LPC
About me
My name is Melissa Caparitia and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York City. I graduated from the Mercy College in 2016 with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, with certification in Substance abuse counseling. For five years, I have worked to help families from all different backgrounds in our state to work through challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and difficulties with family/relationships, childhood trauma. As a therapist I greatly enjoy helping people be their best selves and work toward achieving their goals. I understand that creating change is difficult and takes efforts. In my experience providing a safe space for people to express their feelings without the fear of judgement is very important. As a therapist I meet the client where they are, I work at the pace of the client. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you, I promise to provide an environment of understanding and comfort through my approach to counseling. the foundation of my practice comes from a client-centered approach, which focuses on building a solid relationship between counselor and client, as well as empathy, mutual respect and support. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!*

Melissa has been great. I feel like she can relate and understand a lot of the specific issues I’m dealing with and that are prevalent within my community, and she speaks from a place of equality , always listening, and not enforcing if that makes sense.
